DOMElement::removeAttributeNode
This method can be used to remove a namespace declaration from an element, even though the declaration is not considered an attribute by the DOM. The prefix will be removed from any element or attribute using it.

$namespaceURI
, string $localName
)
Removes attribute is namespace namespaceURI
named localName from the element.

Return Values
Returns TRUE on success or FALSE on failure.

DOM_NO_MODIFICATION_ALLOWED_ERR -
Raised if the node is readonly.
